Patterns

Radial

For this project we were to create a pattern that radiates out from a center point. For my brainstorming session I went online and found some posters that I really liked. One of them was made using the Polar Grid tool and I was fascinated with it. I watched a couple tutorials on how to use the Polar Grid tool and used my new skills to create my motif. I really enjoyed learning about this tool and I really like the many ways of using it.

Repeat

For this pattern i also began with the Polar Grid tool. I wanted to use pie slices instead of bars for this one. I started to arrange them in many ways, rotate them, and overlapped them until I finally got a shape that I really liked. I then used the Pattern panel to arrange my shapes into a pattern I felt good about.

  1. I really like your radial pattern, because it's broken up, but still symmetrical. It also uses the negative space really well. I'm not in love with your repeat pattern because the strokes on the triangles make it seem asymmetrical and puts one triangle over the other, adding to the lack of symmetry.

  2. I really like how retro looking your pattern is because of the color choice and stroke width.

  3. I love how your motif looks like a square but you kind of have to put it all together and it just looks really cool in general.

  5. I really like your radial pattern because it reminds of a fingerprint scanner. Kaylee said your repeat pattern looks like pizza.

  7. I think your designs are very relatble (especially the first one). The first one has a very vortex-y feel to it.

  8. The radial design of your motif is very good, and I like how the mix of the two colors. The pattern is pretty good too, I like the Triangles that separate the circles.

  9. Your motif reminds me of Mr. Carter's class because it reminds me of really loud noise. I really like your pattern too and you because they're geometric and rad

  11. Your radial motif is lovely! I love the way it's broken up and has arrows coming out of it, and it's probably the best motif pattern I've seen so far.

Your pattern is kind of awkward looking, though. The crossed triangles aren't really working for me and it looks a little busy. The overlap just makes it kind of awkward, sorry.

  13. Chelsi your patterns are fantastic!!! Not joking!!! I wish we didn't have to have those two colors because the blue and pink-- on point! Then there is your motif... I did a simple circle. You did circles but you used them in a way where i ask myself, "How did you do that?"!
