Professional Video Review

I chose to watch "Nobody Love" by Tori Kelly for my professional review. It is a music video of one of her newest songs. The video depicts Kelly with her friends at a diner. It included many types of shots but the most commonly used shots were medium shots and close-ups. Medium shots were used to help tell the story of Kelly and her friends that night, while close-ups were mostly used when she was singing straight into the camera.

The video was of a group of friends, with Tori Kelly at the focus. They were at a diner and began to sing together, and soon it turned into a full on concert. This story was told through many closer framed shots with a lot of movement to them.

After watching this video with a closer look I really liked how it portrayed the entire group of people but still kept the most focus on Kelly. It also had a very good mix of slow-motion shots closer to the end. I would like to be able to add those different speed and angled shots to my work. I will also be thinking more about how the video got the whole story across while still focusing on Kelly herself.

One element i already have learned that was applied in this project was the six-shot sequence. The video had a wide variety of shots mixed throughout it, even though most of them were medium shots and close-ups. The creator of this video framed their shots very well, always leaving enough head room and keeping the main piece of the shot the focus. Based on my knowledge I would have to say that the video could have been better if it had a clearer beginning, middle, and it. I know the main focus of the video was the music, but it seemed like they were trying to tell a story without knowing the whole plot.
I really liked the video and I thought that overall it was very well done. I loved the lighting, the ways that it changed throughout really added to the video, as well as the movement in the shots.
