Professional Project Review

For this project in Exploring A/V, we were to storyboard the first 18 shots of this video (Michaela, Shawn Montano, YouTube, 2008). and analyze them based on what we have learned.
The story was about a young women who was a heavy weight lifter. It talked about her experience with her dad as her coach and her home life. Her story was told through a two minute YouTube video made by Shawn Montano.
One element of this piece that I would like to apply to my own is the quick transitions. It keeps the watcher engaged. Another is the fact of showing the whole story, all the little pieces were included.
The six-shots of the six-shot sequence, something we have learned, were all used in this video. As well as cutting audio to go over a different video clip.
The creator of this video made sure that they captured every piece of the girl's story and showed the viewer what she was doing.
The creator did however use a lot of the same types of shots, and used them right in a row, which is hard for the eye to catch and look at. They also repeated some shots that felt like they were the same clip from earlier. There were a couple shots near the beginning of the girl and her mom standing in the kitchen that felt repetitive. I maybe would not have used some of the angles for clips that they did because they felt awkward and did not match the rest of the video.
Overall this video made the story clear and told her story well. However, there were somethings I would have changed about the way the shots were set up or the order that they were in.
